Description My --YET AGAIN-- last-minute entry for 's Contest. This time EVEN MORE SO, since I spent a day waffling over whether or not my idea fit the prompt.

The theme for this month is "Settled Down," or about the PT characters with children and a family. Now, instead of focusing on the future like the description talks about, I took a look back at the past.

That's right folks. I present to you the Family Drosselmeyer (at least as I imagine them): Dieter the writer and his wife, Edith, with their three children Ulrich, Klaus, and Gitta.

(Dieter) Drosselmeyer's young design is heavily influenced by Fakir's, since he remarked on a similarity of features in episode 25. But I tried to preserve his manner and his eyes especially. I wanted to make him look... human, you know?

Edith's design is (of course!) based on Edel's, since I sort of pictured her as Edel's Original Model. I tried to make her look pretty but still enough like Edel to make the connection clear. She was a wealthy noble lady who loved Drosselmeyer, a poor author at the time. One day, her fiancΓ©, whom she didn't love, died mysteriously; so she and Drosselmeyer got married and lived happily ever after... Until Edith discovers whose pen was responsible for this "sudden misfortune."

Ulrich, the one in the hat, is Drosselmeyer's eldest son. He grows up to betray Drosselmeyer to the Bookmen after he finds out the reason why his mother pined away in illness and died.

Klaus and Gitta are the twins, a boy and a girl respectively. Fakir is descended from Gitta, just in case it isn't obvious. They're pretty much just adorable.

....And if that doesn't follow the prompt, then... Um.... This is ARMADILLON! And... FREYA! Yes. It is them and their children. In the Future. Clearly.

I LOVE this! It's wonderful how you developed a full backstory for both Drosselmeyer and Edel, and even made him and his daughter look like Fakir. And everything is so CANON!!! It's perfect!!!

Ah, Drosselmeyer... it was said that he had descendants, but I couldn't picture it till now! Thanks! I bet his wife did look like Edel, too!

This is both really sweet and a little dark. And your story just adds to it. I can imagine this as being canon.

My DrossyXEdel fangirl-ness is sated.

I especially love the effect on the frame, though. Such a lovely light source.

(Also, have you finished editing whatever episode you're supposed to be editing right now?)

Ooh, nice idea! I always did kind of wonder what Drosselmeyer's children would have looked like. It's just hard for me to picture it because...well, because of Drosselmeyer. I just can't see him having a family. But you know, with this picture and the background story you gave them, I really do think his family would have been something like this. Good luck with the contest!

Nice idea I always kind of pictured Edel as having been a real person once myself, whom Drosselmeyer turned into a puppet or something. I've been working on a kind of Drosselmeyer's past story. Anyway, it's a nice idea ^_^

That is just... so clever! Whether this fits the prompt or not, I don't care! It's just amazing! I think it's really sweet to look back to a more innocent time, before Drosselmeyer completely lost it. It's just so sweet and lovable and I love the complex back story you gave them. Edith especially.

Heh, Armadillon and Freya. XD

Nice story you came up with thar. I like the sinister bit with the fiancΓ©. Might as well be canon, since Fakir had to come from some offspring of his, hehehe....

Actually, if you look closely at Autor's family tree, Drosselmeyer really did have 3 kids and Fakir is descended from the Youngest. (Autor, of course, claims to be descended from Ulric, making him the "true Heir" of Drosselemeyer's power.)

Awesome picture and interesting backstory! Yeah, I can see the resemblance to Fakir in Gitta, and if Autor is descended from Ulric I wonder if the kid is wearing glasses under that big hat and is always shushing his younger siblings? LOL! Heh! Does Claus have any descendants?

Cool. I must go check it out.

It's the product of his "Research" You can pause the screen and get a pretty good look at it in episode 21.

Oh thats adorable!!! He looks saner younger! XD "mysteriously" haha I had a feeling Drosselmeyer's pen was more involved with that. Hm thats a great theory on why Drosselmeyer created Edel, I like the similar style yet you can see the differences at the same time! Awesome creation!

D looks saner, but I think Ulric is a budding psycho. >.>

BUT YES. D's Pen was involved... maybe a little.

And thanks! I tried to invoke the impression of Edel while, you know, making her hair make sense.

Yeah, I figured that Hey, he had three kids at some point, so clearly Drosselmeyer's life wasn't totally a depressing pile of sheets. I also think of him as being as (quite) old as when we see him when he died. So I tried to picture a younger, softer, nicer Dieter.

Love it!! I was actually thinking of doing something similar, but I couldn't picture Drosselmeyer as young. Nor did I really think about what Real!Edel might look like.

For me Edith's design was much more challenging than Young!Drosselmeyer. (Of course this partially comes from the fact that I had drawn a version of Teen aged Dieter in my English notes quite some time ago which I could use for reference.)
