Description 12"x6" Oil, Gold Leaf, Pen, Paper, on Linen stretched over Birch Panel.

I did this painting after I went to Hong Kong in December of 2019 for the purpose of visiting an old friend there and speaking with the people of the city to understand what was going on with the protests.
I discovered the people there were very friendly, and looked to America as a beacon of free speech and a model to follow I spoke with Teachers, Students, Taxi drivers, little kids, restaurant owners, other tourists.
I realized then how much I took for granted our Constitution and our Bill of Rights. In the time that has passed the people of Hong Kong have been oppressed, extradited and killed for holding peaceful protests (actual peaceful protests, no beating people or setting fires to buildings or looting). My friend has since left Hong Kong to Japan where she now resides.
This painting is dedicated to the memory of Hong Kong.
