Decided I'll just post the sketches straight away. Just took the photos and a lot of them were quite unusable. Anything in pencil really ends up too light to be picked up, the lighting is too uneven to fix it post, graphite shines when lit. Colors end up orange shifted and weirdly dark... I tried anything I could think of to fix the lighting and nothing seems to work, I could go on and on... How do traditional artists do this!??!?! -_-

I have a lot of ideas on how to do it better, but I probably need a better camera at least. I think a lot of the lighting issues I was having was due to the camera darkening things and shifting colors strangely. The props I use seem to be quite important too, it's probably more important that they look good, rather than they be accurate for what art tools I was using at the time. Not very experienced with this, better luck next time...

What I was trying was setting up multiple light sources, but lamp light ended up making things extremely yellow, direct light made things shine and made it extremely difficult to adjust contrast in photoshop. I probably need some kind of scattered light, as you said - something like sunlight on a cloudy day.

The gleam is from my phone light, I thought it would help and it kind of did and didn't. I sort of assumed that lighting it more and from different angles will make it better, but it kind of just made my camera adjust itself to make certain things darker (the pencils for example).

Thanks ^^
