this is an awesome photo and a fantastic addition to my favourites. black and white choice works well - you have nailed the right tones in the right places and have managed to keep the detail in the shadows, especially the rocks. the long exposure was an obvious choice and it has worked well to smooth not just the water but the image as well. i was initially unsure about the loss of definition between the sky and water but i think it works as it adds to the ghostly surreal mood of the image. as for the broken pier in the image it is fantastic, it leads the eye onwards and contains sufficient detail and interest to keep the viewer intrigued for quite a while. a really good photo.

A very graphic, almost abstract image. I love the composition, and the b&w. The title only helps with the overall feel!
