It’s been so long since that lightning bolt swapped my mind with my maid’s, and I went from being a tall, beautiful supermodel into the body of a short, skinny Chinese girl. She stole my life, forcing me into hers. I have had to be poor immigrant maid, Mimi Chang, ever since.

I used to dream of somehow reversing the swap, but ‘Candy Krawford’ took care to keep me far away from her. She moved across the country, and left me behind to work for one of ‘her’ wealthy friends, who used to be my best friend, just to rub the humiliation in.

It’s awful to have to see my old face smiling from magazine covers and billboards every day, wearing clothes I will never own and advertising things I’ll never be able to afford. She has a daughter now, who’s already a successful model. She should have been my child!

Since she abandoned me, I’ve worked in the homes of many rich people who would once have fawned all over me but to whom I’m now nothing but an invisible servant. I need an employer to sponsor me, or the INS will cancel my visa and deport me ‘back’ to China, so I daren’t complain, no matter how they treat me.

Oh no! That’s the mistress’s car in the drive. I must get back to work!
