Description
I’ve seen a lot of sigils over the last few years dedicated to marginalized communities, justice, for the support of protesters and more, but what I haven’t found is a general sigil for all social justice topics. So I have created one, combining two methods:
1. the one where you take the letters of a word or phrase, delete double letters and form a pattern with the letters.
2. Laura Tempest Zakroff’s method which is based on using universal and often ancient shapes, symbols or signs which have specific meanings, for instance in folklore. I can recommend Laura’s book »Sigil Witchery – A Witch’s Guide to Crafting Magickal Symbols«, if you are interested in that. (The publisher's page of the book: llewellyn.com/product.php?ean=… )
Here is what went into this sigil:
The phrase Social Justice
A Hexagon, which can stand for a community (like the hexagon shape found in the honeycombs of bees)
A pentagram, as a sign of protection
A scale, a symbol for justice
An arrow pointing upward (combined with the scale), for necessary steps of action
Waves, a symbol for transformation, flow and change
Dots, as signs for seeds, which symbolize growth
The sigil can be downloaded for free in high resolution (for printing). Feel free to use it in any way, but not commercially. If you want to use this sigil, please credit me (Andrea Grünbaum) as the artist. Thanks!
