Thanks a lot for this walkthrough! I think most people who are getting into art focus too much on the rendering and the detail (like me), while the most important stuff (and difficult stuff) is happening at step 1 and 2. If I would be able to set a scene like you did in 1 and 2, the rest wouldn't be much of a problem to me. Sigh...

What demon must I bind a contact of blood with in order to make fire like THAT?
Best I can do is a very "Firey" mass that is somewhat cloud-like. It's passable, but I aspire to MORE!

It's amazing to see the step by step transformation from a bunch of loosely scribbled lines into solid bulks of menacing metal. I'm just trying to get my head around this digital painting stuff and this not only blew me away but offered some glimpses into a direction of work flow. May I ask a question ? How do you create a straight ray of light (something like intense spotlights) and fire sparks like in this picture (I'm very sorry for modifying your art work but I can't find a right way to describe it. I promise I'll delete it right after you reply) [link]

Oh and when you put them in your picture use blend modes such as Add, Screen or Color Dodge.

i like a lot the evolution of this picture.
what brushes did you use for the Texture? custom created or PS basic ones?
and the fire is image right?
I like how everything blends together.
The rough edges which are drawn you make them with the lasso tool or with the vector line tool?
And another question, as touch-ups you use layer blendings and filters or touch it by the brush?

I was wondering how you did that in searching 1 & 2. So I tried to pull an Andree Wallin on a mechanical Dragon last week, but it came out a lot less cool. I shall try this thing. Thanks Dude. Always enjoy your stuff.
