I love the way your portraits always have a very shallow depth of field, but I think that maybe more dof would suit this picture better.

hi, i know what you mean, but I like the viewer always to be drawn to the eyes, there is a lot of visual information in hands that I would worry about it being distracting.
Also, it kind of becomes a lottery of DoF, in that what level of defocus is correct? Is it ok at f8 but still too shallow at f4.....then maybe it would need to be perfectly sharp at f16, by which time the lens resolution and sharpness has begun to drop......so really, this seems to be 'MY' ideal compromise - I completely understand that this will not be the cae for evryone and that is cool, because we don't all want to take the same kind of photos do we???
