Venom in 'supervillain needless posturing situation no1.'
well, this was a journey. the sketch took about 2 seconds but the colouring was a mission.
i did 2 versions in painter, 2 in photoshop - all with meticulously painted muscle and gristle..then i sacked that off and painted it black. as usal, the black one looks best. it totally wasn't what i was going for but i like it anyway.
ive been trying for ages to get a real grainy, sunlit new york feel for my spider-man pictures but could never do it. the closest i got was in my Wankstas piece with the BG so i learnt from that and threw in some more trickery id learnt along the way and Shazam! here you go.
course that wasn't the plan until like half-way through the piece but you don't need to know that...

some of them are brushes, some are inks and some are wacom lines i did in photoshop. i use a combination of pretty much everything on all my pieces now.
and the brush set is something like 'random swirls' or something - from DA resourcses

*nods* good work. And well reflects venom. I was trying to work out whether it'd be cooler if it was a night scene, but nah, I figure this works better.

yeah, i prefer it as a day scene, you don't get them much. it seems there's this notion in comics that bad guys only go out at night, when its misty and stand in front of a full moon when lots of bats fly past in the background.

Looks absolutely bad ass, even if it is Generic Supervillian pose... I'm gonna go with you that the black would be overall better, gives a nice sorta "holy crap he's right in my face" type look, especially with the brighter background... the extra pieces of the symbiote flying around his hands are such a great effect... overall great stuff

its a technique ive used before using photos of buildings then taking out some of the colours and overlaying them on effects layers. its pretty simple and works quite well if you get the right photos and you can get more detail in than you can just by drawing. it comes from my street/art design influneces i think.

nah, i drew it first, it was a sketchbook piece which i always meant to scan and colour but never did for ages cause i didn't know what to do with it.

I think you got that grainy sun thing down. It looks sun blinding to me. Also the black works pretty well since the light is coming from the back... yeah, I think that is how that shadow would work
