The story:
Long ago, an annual blood tournament was held. The Gaoza death tribe used the blood tournament as a ritual to the gods of death and hell. Angered by the ritual, the entity Vulrhilde challenged the Tribe in a Tournament to the death. In result, only a few combatants would be able to defeat the mightiest of the Gozma’s WildeBeast and Warriors. Thus resulting in the end of the tournament. In doing so Vulhilde, in respect for the fallen warriors would reincarnate them into two separate entities. One channeled into a powerful beast controlled by the Sodai Gems and into future warriors that would call her answer in case the Gozma Tribe ever rises again.

However, it has been 300 years since the tournament. Vurhilde, now a protector of our realm, would grow concern. In her 3 centuries of wait, she has grown and developed many companies, which has helped her develop the Shinsei Weaponry. On the first full moon of the year, the Gaoza Tribe abruptly appears, reigniting the Blood Tournament once more. Vurhilde now prepared, fires with an arrow across the world. These arrows would summon the Reincarnated warriors of the past in their modern vassals. Gathered, Vurhilde explains their mission into ending the Gaoza Tribe once and for all. This is their story, fighters born from nothing, now must save the world. Their souls are on fire! Behold! Sodai Sentai Shinseiger!

Introducing my 18th team in the now 01 Toku-Verse (My designated universe for my sentais and riders). Behold! Sodai Sentai Shinseiger! This team is another old Sentai Ideas I made way back then and have now made art since. The story itself follows the 5 (later 6) reincarnated warriors as they seek out to end their centuries old enemies battle. They are magnificent warriors whose souls were split into two spirits. One a human spirit that reincarnates every 75 years, and a Mythical creature from different origins.

Concept stage, I wanted a team of mythical warriors based on mythical creatures. I didn’t want to adhere to the mythical creatures commonly found within Sentai, hence the odd choice of using creatures from different mythologies such as the Dokkaebi from Korean mythology, TaoTie and Zheng from Chinese, Kirin,Kyubi, and Ryu from Japanese mythology. Later focusing on the martial arts aspect of this team with each member practicing one martial art.
-Kirin focuses on Karate
-Dokkaeibi Focuses on Taekwondo
-TaoTie focuses on Kung Fu
-Zheng focuses on Wushu
-Kyubi focuses on Wing Chun
-Ryū focuses on Jeet Kune Do

Suit wise, or more of their Senshi Forms, it’s a mixture between both their human and creature aspects given a demon like look overall to as a way to unite the two souls into one suit. it’s kinda more of my interpretation of a Gi with the sleeves a ripped off giving it a more brutal and intense look. I aimed for darker colors opposed to my lighters colors as a way to convey that this is a magnificent/mythical team with its masks looking like their respective creatures.

Lore wise, The team is originally warriors who fought the Gaoza tribe in the first annual tournament initiated by Vurhilde, resulting in the death warriors. The last 6 were the souls that eventually reincarnates into two forms, Human and Creature, with the creature living on immortally and the human soul reincarnating every 75 years or so. The Human aspect is able to connect to their creature via the SodaiGem (kinda like the gems from Gaoranger), tho the Gaoza tribe have remained dormant until the modern day, the creatures overwatched their human counterparts as protectors from other evils. That is until our modern day vassals are summoned after the tribe reawakens once more. Although only 5 remain unaware of their past lives, the 6th RyuSenshi retains his memories every incarnation.

Last thoughts, I liked how the design turned out. It’s unique and doesn’t go by the Sentai standards as it gives of a more monster/creature vibe. Paired along with the suit itself, it’s simple yet effective to convey this is a martial arts themed Sentai. This one is a another long time coming as I enjoyed writing the Shinseiger lore (there is more I just have it saved on a doc) joining the mythical/ancient sentais I have already done but not being the first to do so.
