This shot scares me! That's a good thing! Very crisp and intriging tone. There are many shots of old cars out there, and though all good, you have absolutely captured true desolation. Cool!

definately one of my favourite shots on dA! brilliant. did you use any filters or photoshopping etc.? marty

Andross01 In reply to martybell [2006-12-17 21:53:04 +0000 UTC]

Not really. No filters (just had a UV haze on), and in Photoshop, the extent of editing I did was a Curves adjustment layer (tones were done via white balance/tint).

Andrew has a sense of restrained balance in his photos. They are consistant. Consistancy in knowing how far to push the image's appearance before it will lose it's zeal is critical.

Good times. Love old cars that were almost forgotten.
RAW image editor and playing with white balance = fun fun fun!

lol, that's crazy.....but my photo exhibit is FRIDAY o.0
That would be one interesting coincedence. Can you ask him if it's Saturday or actually this Friday? The show is called Exposure: Dallas.

Actually, I'll just send you a note with all the info.

But, anyway, yeah, this was on the Grand Canyon trip. Thanks!

Yeah, I seriously need to start thinking more about the technical side...I'm always disappointed by the lack of sharpness in my photos as I tend to end up shooting with either too slow of a shutter speed, or my aperture too far open... not to mention I need to hone my sharpening skills...

But man, I'm seriously just captivated by this shot. Great composition and color!

Always shoot the middle f-stop if you can - that is, unless it's too dark or you need shallow dof.

Tripods help a lot too!!!

Unsharp mask in Photoshop is your best friend

Tripod I've got, but I never seem to have it with me when I find a shot that where it would really help

And yeah, USM is definitely a great friend LoL

Absolutely gorgeous. I love rusted, abandoned things. You did a great job of this one.

PS: How'd you get those tones!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Andross01 In reply to iranintoavan [2006-07-25 20:11:44 +0000 UTC]

I shifted the white balance to be more yellow (like a tungsten/flourescent setting).
I further shifted the tin to be more green.

You'd need to shoot in RAW mode to achieve this though. Otherwise, you could fuss with color balance in Photoshop...

Ah, alright. I'll have to give this a try sometime. Thanks!

PS: I do shoot in RAW.

Great shot. I like how that car is only half in the frame. The yellowish tint adds sort of a rustic feel too.

I mean, most of your photos are like still shots from a movie - you wanna make movies?

Very well could I suppose. I know absolutely nothing about movies though XD
