Terezi, being a Seer of Mind, has the unfortunate ability to see all of the tough choices that may need to be made. She knows why people do the things they do, and knows how to convince them to do whatever it is she wants them to. This is a grim place of mind to live in constantly, one of perpetual fear that she's not using this power in good conscience, so she doesn't stay there. She trolls! In a sort of microscale social experiment, she pokes and prods at people simply to get reactions out of them, and the game tends to be fun regardless of the outcome! She chooses not to read or manipulate people, but merely to start them and watch them go. Similarly, when everyone else is some kind of upset and Terezi is still amused, it's because she's appreciating the irony of whatever it is that just happened, and how people are reacting to it. I think this might be because she's confident that if it actually gets bad, she'll have the power to step up her game and get serious, so she's not too serious about it til then. It's kinda why she and Dave get along well, I think; she approaches her trolling with a certain irony, and appreciates Dave's irony in a similar fashion.
Vriska's awesomeness has been covered fairly well already. ^.^ While not always agreeing with her methods, I can certainly appreciate her reasons for the way she interacted with Tavros, especially given her feelings that made her want to kiss him.

I think you're absolutery right!
And about Vriska: in my opinion, when Vriska always had to kill other trolls to keep her lusus alive, she had to get rid of any kind of remorse or compassion while doing it. Her personality is really strong, she's a fighter, who gets what she wants, no matter what, and she's always 100% herself. Yes, her methods are often controversial, but she does it her way, even if it's wicked way, I just love it in her. However, Vriska is also afraid of showing any kind of weakness, in conversation with John she admitted that others will think she's weak if they knew that she regrets killing her friend. Well, I think this prevents her from letting herself too attached to someone and she's simply a bit afraid of being in matespritship instead of kismesisstude, and that's why her feelings for Tavros are so complicated. When people hates or are afraid of her, Vriska feels in control, and these ones are easier to manipulate. For her warm feelings are probably extremely awkward to express. (And because Vriska doesn't really understand various feelings and doesn't know how to express them properly, I find her relations with Terezi, whose abilities you already mentioned, very dynamic and interesting. Vriska must be jealous of Terezi's talent to manipulate others without using any special powers.)

Interesting perspective on things! It's a good point, that when people hate her or are afraid of her, they're easier to manipulate; this is possibly because she has more experience in those veins, which is self-fulfilling in a way. owo I think that makes a lot of sense, and we even have canon evidence that Karkat agrees with you on Vriska's jealousy [link]
When I mentioned her reasons for interacting the way she does with Tavros, here's what I meant.
Vriska's always pushing Tavros, right? And she keeps talking to John about being challenged. I think what she's really trying to do, is to get people to be the best they can be, which I think is pretty awesome! And especially with Tavros, she gets so frustrated that he's so far from what he could be, she just wants to smack some sense into him sometimes! Which can lead to amusement ^.^ and, well... sadness. >8( this is also why I felt so much sad along with Terezi at the end of the Doc Scratch-moderated arc.
but yeah, people hate her for the way she treats others and especially Tav, but it seems like this is why she does it, which is really not a bad reason at all! It just comes off wrong...

I think that "something" is an unbelievable moxy. Its not as deep or developed as Vriska's, but Terezi always tries to not be rude and constantly give compliments even when she's angry or insulting, if that makes any sense.
Terezi's someone you want to be around...but you don't exactly want to know her motivations. Vriska's the opposite. She's hard to be around, but once you understand her, you can't help but respect her for how morality appeared in a environment where it was nearly impossible.
