You requested a critique, however as i cant afford a membership I will give you one here
The colors are gorgeous as is the birds pose, (again top capture!) You have fantastic detail in the bird, I would try to brighten the catchlight in the birds eye if you can? The Boken you have in the shot is also wonderful. It looks quite a heavy crop? If so I think if you dropped the bird into the lower left hand corner of the frame (not tight into it though...) and gave it slightly more space to the right it would complement the bird more? you would also lose quite a bit of the in-focus water at the front of the bird thus drawing more focus to the bird. Thats all my own opinion by the way, but i hope it helps?
This is a shot I would of been chuffed to take, I have not managed as half a good a shot of a great crested grebe!

I Can Brighten The Catchlight No Trouble But Believe It Or Not
The Reason For The Look Of A Tight Crop Is I Was Shooting
At The Min Focus Of My 500mm. It Was So Close I Could Only Just Focus
And Had To Keep Moving Back While Laying In Front Of It. This Is Just About
The Full Frame I Don't Think I Hardly Cropped At All. LoL
