You look sad. When you think he can't see you.On TumblrThis was, um, sort of an experiment, I guess. I tried to paint something more loose and stroke-y, without going into too much detail (which is, surprisingly, very hard to do). I've decided to call it a day when I started over-working the whole thing...Anyway, I hope it turned out alright, this is the first time I've tried painting something in this manner

I absolutely love it! I can understand what you mean, I have a hard time not over-detailing everything. I love this loose style with broad brushstrokes of pure colour. I especially love the bits of blue you have dancing across the page.
Have you seen jesterry's work on here? It's kind of similar to this and also very beautiful!

Aw, thanks so much! Yeah, it's super hard to figure out what bits are not as important and should be just vaguely hinted at or simply ignored all together. I think that's one of the things that come with lots of experience and practice, so I still struggle with it myself.
I haven't seen jesterry's work before, I've just checked it out and it is, indeed, lovely.
