Probably my favourite illustration from the first 6 books - Old Mr Dewdrop - formerly known as Lord Foulweather.Incidentally, the original of this image is pasted into Inki's book which she has sent around the world to all her friends (and which spent an indecent amount of time in my office I am ashamed to say)

This reminds me very much of some Rankin Bass characters. So much of what that company did is pure gold IMO. Then again there was much of it that was garbage. heh.
Quite a mood-filled and peaceful image with it's simplicity and innocence. Your notes add a new dimension, in that it seems to be the happy conclusion to great tale of transformation.

Once again you have me racing to Google to research another of your illustrative references. Definitely a compliment I see. I grew up watching those old stop animation classics. Thanks for your thoughtful comments as ever. I can't quite put my finger on why this piece in particular was my favourite but I think the peacefulness you mention has a lot to do with it. Fingers crossed your Muse comes calling again soon!
