Description "Dawn Patrol"

The skies over the northern ice cap of a terraformed Mars are patrolled by one of several corporate agencies seeking a foothold on newly vacated territories.

Vue, 3DS Max and Photoshop.

I hope you enjoy it. Critiques and comments welcome!

Very cool! Love the aircraft, simple design but way cool. And I love a good sci-fi back story

Thanks UnsungBlood!

I was raised on Sci-Fi so I'm imagining that most of the artists here DO have some back story but probably don't take the extra time to include or develop it.   They probably have too many other things distracting them, lol.

I wish i had more time, but barely have time to do these pieces as it is.  Oh well, I super glad you like it!

Cheers!

I can relate. I was raised on sci-fi myself and I have back stories in my head for most of my stuff. But I'm just too lazy to write it down lol.

Thoroughly enjoy this artwork. Am a long time flying wing and tailless design fan, the first half of my gallery has model images of them.

This craft looks like a drone type. There were some space art paintings showing patrol aircraft used by explorers and colonists on Mars. All were flying wing designs.

Like your attention to the exhaust and vortex contrails.

Many thanks. Sometimes it's hard to find good research material.

It's probably hard to see in the preview images but I added some combat damage such as bullet holes and flak damage but it doesn't show that well at that resolution. Was difficult to google what I needed but recall seeing some (wwII) images. Used to love watching 12 o'clock high and ba ba blacksheep... and rat patrol.

Thanks! I think that even after terraforming it will be pretty chilly farther from the sun... Need to figure out a way to warm up the ambient temperature ><

Thanks! I've always been a fan of the flying wing style since I was a kid...

Something powerful in the elemental boomerang look.

And I love using Vue, but still having a hard time learning the functions and filters for the landscape editing. But it's fun and you can make 'happy' mistakes that can surprise yourself.

Take care,
andy

Same here for Tailless designs.

Need to try Vue someday.

Overall Vue is amazing for how quickly a scene can be designed for realistic results. My major issue is with a clunky animation key interface... hard for me to control. Used to 3ds max and after effects which seem to be easier to use.
