Wow! This thing is huge! Our artificial 7meter wall is really nothing compared with that cliff! Can t wait for next summer - finally some real rock again! I like the color texture and markings of that rock, it s sandstone, right? At first sight I haven t realised the two climbers.

As I recall, yes, it is sandstone. The rock climbing there is sensational. I'm very happy you like the photo.

This is an amazing picture! I love the climbers; it really gives a different perspective and scale... It must be completely awe-inspiring to be there! Makes you realize what a small part we humans are in nature.

Not too many people have commented on this photo. I am very happy you stopped by and commented. Climbing not only makes you feel small in comparison to the cliff you are climbing, you also feel small because you realize that if you make a mistake, you will become very very small indeed.

You're very welcome! I would have commented on all of the pictures I favorited, but I couldn't think of that much to say, haha.

And that certainly does make sense. Nature has a way of doing things like that an awful lot.

By faving, you've made some kind of comment. You communicated to me that you like the works. That's saying something.

Alright! ^^ I'm glad you think that way. I feel bad when people ask for comments and I can't think one up after I fave their work, haha.

Some people ask for critiques. You have to write a minimum of 100 words on one of those. I have to feel comfortable saying whatever I want with those people. Some people can't take criticism and it takes time to figure out who can take it and who can't.

Every-stars-fall In reply to AndySerrano [2009-12-04 05:10:30 +0000 UTC]

I know. I've never left a critique since I don't feel that I'm knowledgeable enough of photography or art or anything like that to leave one of someone's work.

And it's kind of odd that someone would want a critique and then take the criticism poorly. It really defeats the purpose, haha. Well, I guess that they might not be expecting any negative feedback.

When I took art classes, it was always part of the process to put our work on the wall and then listen to everyone make a critique. Sometimes it was painful, but the process helped everyone to learn and be better.

Yes! I love it when people tell me what I can improve on in my work, as long as they aren't mean about it. And it is hard to hear bad things about something that you worked hard on, but it's certainly a part of the process of learning.

The same is true with writing stories and books. You should read them to a small audience and get their reaction. Let them tell you what they liked and disliked about it.

That is true; and I've done that in the past with one of the stories that I was reading. My dad brought it to his workplace for some reason and they read it, so I liked getting feedback that way. It really is a good way to learn what to work at and things.

Plus, by reading your stories, you are also entertaining your friends and building a reputation.

Wonderful shot! I am curious as to where you were standing when you took it! (Were you on the ground or somewhat suspended...?)

I hiked up and climbed up as far as I could safely climb without a rope to get this photo. No one else in my party wanted to go up with me.
Thanks!

I'm very pleased you stopped and viewed the larger picture. This one is under-appreciated because people don't know what they are missing from the thumbnail. I hope it made your knees feel wobbly!! Thanks for the fave!

I'm very glad you like this. I tried many many perspectives in order to convey the precariousness of the climbers' situation. Thank you.

The park service does not allow bolts to be placed into this mountain. Climbers have to use cams. See picture: [link] You are young at heart Anita!

I have to hand it to you Andy! I could never do this! Gives me the "creeps".....though I have done some "risky" things here in Alaska......I was younger, then!
