Coral ReefI drove two hours to San Diego to visit the Scripps Aquarium.
Coral reefs are underwater structures made from calcium carbonate secreted by corals. Corals are colonies of tiny living animals found in marine waters containing few nutrients. Most coral reefs are built from stony corals, and are formed by polyps that live together in groups. The polyps secrete a hard carbonate exoskeleton which provides support and protection for the body of each polyp. Reefs grow best in warm, shallow, clear, sunny and agitated waters.
Often called “rainforests of the sea”, coral reefs form some of the most diverse ecosystems on earth. They occupy less than 1% of the world ocean surface, about half the area of France, yet they provide a home for 25% of all marine species, including fishes, molluscs, echinoderms and sponges.

This photo you're seeing was taken at the Scripps Aquarium in San Diego, California. It only cost me $10 to get in there. However, it took thousands to see them in Australia and Yucatan.

on Havasupai Falls. I hiked six hours to get to these waterfalls. They washed my mind of its trivial worries and clutter. I walked away feeling free. [link]

I would kill to get a shot like this! Just gorgeous Andy! Aquarium shots are so hard to get...I tried a few at the hospital where they have one and they turned out awful. Obviously I have a lot to learn about this type of shot! (I love aquariums)
