It looks like a very nice place to take a walk, and take in the meaning of what happened. Thanks for sharing this Andy, with the group, . its hard to believe looking at the photo that such horror happened so close not that long ago.

for the fave on Itsukushima O-Torii and Rickshaw. I love the colors as well. Miajima Island is considered to not only be holy, but it is considered a god in itself. Rickshaws are commonly believed to have been invented in Japan in the 1860s, at the beginning of a rapid period of technical advancement.  The rickshaw's popularity began to decline in the 1920s with the advent of motorized vehicles. Deer roam in the village and people feed them.  The entire island is considered to be a Shinto shrine and no birth or death is allowed on the island. =
