I visited the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Gardens on the California State University of Long Beach campus July 27, 2008. a91.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i… Me and my wife, Barbara at the Japanese Gardens. She helped me edit the photos.

To answer your question about what kind of tree this is:

It is a 'Bloodgood' Japanese Maple. the latin name being *Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood'*
-Possibly one of the most common, none the less beautiful, landscape trees.

I am a horticulture student at illinois state university
