橋姫(Hashihime / Princess of the bridge) is Japanese Youkai monster.
It's a kind of 鬼(Oni / devil,demon), the demon of jealousy.
She is in a bridge, and she kills a couple(who cross the bridge) by curse of jealousy.
Because she was desapointted a man she loved. He cheated on her.
She got into a fury, and beged God for transformation the devil.

Hashihime is the most populer Youkai monster of jealousy in Japan.
In Kyoto Ujigawa river, there is Shinto shrine that sacred to Hashihime.
When we need to break up bad links, bad relationships, we visit the shrine.
But we must not to visit when we need to wish for the marriage, the love affair.

In Shinto, demons often change Gods.
Japanese people were always afraid of demons, so they thought the power of demon can turn into the power of guardianship.
They are called 荒神(Aragami).
