You dont really NEED to see the 2nd one. The 3rd sort of mentions a few things in Avengers, but not much, so very much stands a lone as its own film. Sure it helps if you know a bit about iron man and definitely see the 1st film, but really, I cant remember any mention of the 2nd movie.

Still worth seeing, but yeh, Iron Man 2 seems more of a set up to the films that lead up to Avengers, so IM3 feels more like a clean slate, a new starting point.

Iron War Patriot Machine. Damn movie giving the War Machine armour a paint job. I don't know why it bugs me so much but it always does. There were so many other things to get annoyed at with Iron Man 3 yet it's this suit that gets my main focus

I think its annoying as it means we will never see Iron Patriot in Spider-Man, or more importantly, just Norman Osborn being in the suit. Its a shame a lot of different properties are owned by different film studios. Will be interesting in Avengers 2 with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, who will also be in the next X-Men films, how they are going to avoid mentioning each other.
But yeh, Iron Man 3 wasnt perfect.

That'll be confusing especially if it's 2 different actors. Unless it leaves things open for some of the X-Men to be in later Avengers movies. Wolverine has been in some Avengers line ups & if I remember rightly Beast was an Avenger before that & still is. It could be cool to see them leak through. Who knows maybe by the time Joss Whedon is done the Marvel cinematic universe will be as interwoven as the comic universe?
On top of Osborn never being Iron Patriot that means no Harry becoming American Son or any of the story that eventually led up to that war on Asgard. Shame really I'd like to see Norman Osborn take Thor's hammer to the face

nah, different actors for each film. AVengers cant mention magneto or the xmen, and may not even be able to refer to them as 'mutants', while in xmen they cant mention the avengers in any way.
I have more faith in Joss Whedon getting it right anyway. But yeh, shame they cant stick to the stories laid in the comics and instead fuse characters together throwing away years of storylines in the process all because directors are stupid.

But that's almost their entire backstory they have to drop! Why can't they just let Joss Whedon use X-Men characters? He knows what he's doing better than most directors who had X-Men afterall. It's only really been First Class & X2 that were any good to me. Marvel & Disney should just be like "Joss have any character you want! You know what you're doing"
