did you take the photos thinking of the diptychs ? or just came home and thought "i'm gonna do some of them... lets see what i've got that could work together" ?

actually i planned to do a landscape project there and as it didnt work i was searching for a new thing to do. then i did this spontaneous beach shooting with michael and afterwards thought about also taking some pictures of the place where he lives. so i didnt take the pictures of michael with this diptych thought in my mind, but i did take the shots of the city with that thought in my mind. i'm really happy that i came up with this idea and that i now have this project for my term portfolio instead of the landscape project.

Great juxtoposition. I love the figure in the left shot against the building and door of the second shot. Great work.

Those two shots don't seem to be connected, besides the tones you put them in. It does work with the viewer, like, I'm trying to see a bigger picture, but doing it too often makes it feel a bit gimmicky. The portrait can really stand on its own; it's a powerful shot itself.

well, as for the concept, they are connected and thats the reason for this diptych. of course the pictures can stand on their own, they even have to able to, otherwise it would be very gimmicky, right?
