Hazel-Rah! At this rate I’ve watched the Netflix remake about 4 times, I’ve never read the book of Watership Down but I’ve seen the original movie. I honestly really like the Netflix remake, sure it has its mistakes but otherwise I like what BBC did. Very lovely anatomy. I especially adore the shoulders. You also captured the fluff very well without distorting it, which is something I personally struggle with. The shading is lovely too, also going with the fluff.
I highly suggest reading or listening to the book. The writing style of Richard Adams is absolutely beautiful to me, and his work has inspired me ever since I first heard about it years ago. It deeply saddens me that I didn't send him anything expressing my appreciation before his death.
The beauty of his writing isn't traditional beauty, it's the honesty and reality within it. So imaginative yet so grounded in reality.. Truly one of the greats, at least in my opinion.
BBC's remake is wonderful in it's own right, but if you want to really know and appreciate the writing of Richard Adams, check out the book.
