Description A creepy villain from a television program I once watched, as part of my English education back in Primary School. The program was called Through the Dragon's Eye and it was part of the BBC's "Look and Read" educational series. I first saw it when I was 6 or 7 years old.

---
In this story, it is set in a realm called Pelamar. At some point in the past, Charn had tried to take control of Pelamar and turn its inhabitants evil by taking control of the Veetacore - a magical device made up of 25 different shapes called Veetons, that both grant life to Pelamar and power the realm's existence. However, Charn was fought by Gorwen - a heroic dragon - and defeated. Rather then kill Charn, Gorwen instead banished Charn from Pelamar - sending him to the wastelands outside Pelamar's border.

However, in the present day, the Veetacore mysteriously explodes - with only 22 of the pieces been recovered and none of the inhabitants of Pelamar - including the Veetacore's keepers - been able to read the book containing the instructions for putting the Veetacore back together. Realising that the realm and all life in it is slowly fading from existence, Gorwen arrives on Earth - using a mural as a portal - and selects three schoolchildren (Jenny, Amanda and Scott) to come to Pelamar and help them find the remaining pieces as well as put the Veetacore back together.

The group split up - with Jenny staying behind with two of the Veetacore's keepers (Dorris and Morris) while Scott and Amanda join Gorwen, Borris (the third keeper) and a giant anthropomorphic mouse called Rhodey to venture into Widge to find the remaining three Veetons. However, with the Veetacore's explosion, Charn (who is strongly implied to be the reason for it) returns to Pelamar and takes over the Veetacore house where Jenny, Dorris and Morris are putting the Veetacore back together - once again intending to turn Pelamar and its inhabitants evil and rule over the realm. He proves his power by turning Dorris to slime using a green lightning blast from his clawed hands when she tries to communicate with Gorwen and the others for help.

However, Jenny learns that Charn also cannot read and thus gets Morris to make a scarf for her with the words HELP! CHARN! written on it. When Gorwen's group get in touch - having found two of the three missing Veetons - Jenny talks to them and shows them the scarf. After the conversation, the group realize what the Scarf said - with Gorwen immediately stating he must return to Pelamar on his own and takes the two Veetons with him; briefly explaining to Scott and Amanda that Charn is an enemy of Pelamar who Gorwen defeated once in the past and must now face again as he is the only one who stands a chance against Charn.

Gorwen eventually arrives back in Pelamar, but it spotted approaching the Veetacore House by Charn - who hides and waits for Gorwen to get within range of Charn's green lightning attack. However, Morris throws himself in front and is turned to slime as a result. With his surprise attack ruined, Charn instead heads out and a battle between him and Gorwen begins.
Gorwen is frequently on the defensive in the battle - both weakened by the loss of the Veetacore's rays and dodging/blocking Charn's repeated lightning attacks with his wings - although Charn has to dodge Gorwen's occasional blasts of flame.
Eventually, Charn's overconfidence gets the better of him as while he is gloating over becoming the master of Pelamar, Gorwen takes the opportunity and blasts Charn at point-blank range with his fiery breath - killing Charn for good.

Charn might not seem like such a scary villain now, but for many people who saw this in their childhood (as early as 4 years old), he was a terrifying sight to behold - giving many children nightmares. Check out the comments below the video.

Hope you like it.

1989, that came out.
Nowadays, it's still getting played - alongside other Look and Read programs - in Primary schools across the U.K to help children with their English.

My favourite Look and Read program, though, was "The Legend of the Lost Keys". Episode 1, Part 1 is here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U-zk4…

Well most of it is just learning sounds or parts of words, like 'ight' or 'sp' or what happens when you put the 'magic E ' at the end of a word.
Still, if you want to watch it then go ahead.

Yeah - he was creepy and amazing back when I watched that program.
Looking back now at that video in the description, I see a guy in a tacky costume with low budget 80's effects and b-movie dialogue.

Still, can't go wrong with a bit of nostalgia.
