Nice foe for Godzilla. Given that Wales is also home to Mordor.

Thank you very much.
I know there are Hobbit houses in Wales, but it's also the home of Mordor? I thought that was New Zealand.

Well, not exactly. But I've been to Snowdonia on a Health and Social Care residential session and one of the mountains that you can see from the Plas Curig Hostel, can't remember what it's called, is said by one of the instructors to be benign when you look at it, but on the other side it seems dead gnarly and it's like you're in Mordor.
Also, you like dragons? I own lots of them:

All the details and the background information behind the dragons and other creatures/people.
Are you the one writing both those stories?

No idea; When it comes to monster movies, I prefer to spend my time and energy watching those that at least look like the people making them gave a damn about turning out as good a product as they could (with a few exceptions to that rule)).
As such, and after seeing a review of the first Sharknado film, I have no intention of watching the first one or any of its sequels.
In regards to monsters attacking Britain, we've had Gorgo's mother and a whole host of Doctor Who monsters for that. Also, since Godzilla has trashed Japan, America and China in various movies, why not have him show up in Britain?
(Please note that I'm not having a go at you - I'm just explaining).

If this idea - Godzilla: The Battle For Britain - was a real film and had come out in cinemas, would you go and see it?

AngelGhidorah In reply to gwarman [2014-04-05 21:03:35 +0000 UTC]
Well this is why. The story is as follows:
My idea for the story is that, like Godzilla 2000 and Godzilla X Megaguirus, Godzilla is not killed by Serizawa's Oxygen Destroyer. However, instead of just attacking Japan in the years that follow, Godzilla has attacked numerous places across the world. Because of this, the United Nations create an EDF-style organization (I've named it the 'Anti-Godzilla Institue' or 'AGI' for the time being) which has two objectives.
1. Use the combined efforts of the world's nations to create new weapons/technology to combat/destroy Godzilla.
2. Utilize the scientific research and gatherings from Godzilla for the benefit of humanity and the planet.
My idea would be that a baby Godzilla is found in Australia's North Territory (which is at first mistaken for a creature the aborigines call the 'Burrunjor' - [link] ). The creature, soon realized to be a Baby Godzilla, is tranquilized and transported to a section of the AGI in the UK. Godzilla, enraged at the kidnap of his son, travels across the world to the UK to rescue his offspring.
The main human character in the story is a welsh boy called Rhys Jenkins (same as a welsh rugby union player, but no relation), who has Asperger Syndrome and lives with his mum and dad - his mum and dad are both Wiccans ([link] ) while Rhys practices Dragon Magick (which is similar but different - [link] ). His family live in Cardiff (Wales capital city) but are struggling to make ends meet.
When Godzilla is reported approaching Great Britain, the AGI's main force is set up to defend London even when Godzilla vanishes off the radar. Unfortunately, Godzilla 'pulls one over' on the AGI and attacks Cardiff, leveling the unprepared city to the ground, killing thousands of people and injuring thousands more. Rhys escapes unharmed but his parents are among the dead.
Spending the night in a makeshift hostel, Rhys has a dream where he is visited by the spirits of his parents, who reveal to him the Welsh Red Dragon and the White Saxon Dragon are real and how to awaken them from their resting place in Dinas Emrys ( upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… ), Snowdonia to fight Godzilla.
There would be several fights throughout the story, with Godzilla fighting both the dragons and human military forces as he travels from Cardiff to London.
I felt the Welsh Dragon would be a good foe, especially since Wales has a vivid culture of witchcraft and dragons as well as ties to the legends of King Arthur. I was hoping to somehow weave information from that into the story, if I write it.

1. Thank you very much.
2. That is true mostly, but not in Wales. In Wales, people love and respect dragons in the same way people in places such as China, Korea, Japan, Eygpt and Mesoamerica do. The red dragon is represented on the Welsh Flag ( avalonsguide.com/wordpressing/… ), children sing songs about the dragon in school on Saint David's day ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=42QuFv… ) and the dragon itself has a great history connecting with Wales and the legends of King Arthur - who was a Celtic Warrior. ( www.walesonline.co.uk/lifestyl… , mysticalgenie.com/2011/11/05/d… - scroll down to the origins section , www.nationaltrust.org.uk/artic… )
The red dragon is so symbolic that there is a memorial of it ( mysticalgenie.com/wp-content/u… ) and a new monument is been built in Wrexham, Wales, with a massive bronze version of the Welsh Dragon on top of it - ( www.hedgedruid.com/wp-content/… , www.thewelshdragon.co.uk/about… )
3. The reason both the Welsh and Saxon Dragon are awakened is so they have a chance at stopping Godzilla or at the least, slowing him down, so people can get out of harm's way. Let's face it, Godzilla has survived a hell of a lot - even been hit with multiple nuclear bombs in the new 2014 movie, according to the trailer, and surviving.
At the time, no-one human apart from the baby Godzilla's captors know about the infant, so they all assume Godzilla is simply wreaking havoc and putting innocent people at risk.
4. This is part of my story idea.
In the story, the AGI is a worldwide organization that has been around for a while, determining ways to fight Godzilla and use what they learn for the benefit of all humanity. However, nowadays there isn't a lot you can trust anymore (such as when Edward Snowden revealed the NSA was planning to spy on everything we do online and was forced to escape out of the USA for it). The same is true with the AGI as they are conducting secret experiments using Godzilla's DNA. One of these experiments is one of the American 'Sectors' creating a modified clone of Godzilla (the baby). However, information about what this AGI sector is doing is leaked by whistleblowers - leading to a violent protest, during which the baby escapes and flees across the Pacific to Australia. While there, it's found and tranquilized by a cattle rancher who mistakes it for the Burrunjor, and sells his story to the press.
However, officials from a UK AGI Sector 'forcibly acquire' the baby and the cattle rancher is made out to be a hoaxer. The baby is then transported to the UK to have tests run on it on behalf of the American AGI Sector - who are waiting for the heat to die down.
However, Godzilla has sensed the presence of the baby and follows its trail to the UK - getting attack by UK Navy forces and leveling Cardiff to the ground.
Later on, as Rhys and his friends break into the UK sector with the baby Godzilla within, they learn much darker secrets are going on - including humans and animals been tested on with Godzilla DNA along with the development of extremely advanced weaponry (including alien-based technology, chemical weapons and even the Oxygen Destroyer - revealed to have been 'forcibly acquired' from Dr. Serizawa).
This part of the story would incorporate themes such as corruption, whistleblowing and conspiracy theories - most notably the idea of a 'New World Order' ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Worl… ), with the governments becoming one totalitarian state rule by fear, with the Godzilla Clones and G-Mutants planned to be used to enforce the One-World Government's laws.

I know - Wales is part of Great Britain (the other parts been England and Scotland).
The reason they took his son to Britain is because the Brits are very close allies with America (the whole 'special relationship' thing - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_… ), so it would be easy for the two to collaborate together while the heat on the American AGI sectors dies down due to the whistleblowing event which allowed the baby to escape in the first place.
One of the 'dark secrets' uncovered by Rhys and his friends is that in the years since the 1954 attack on Tokyo, the AGI has deliberately attacked and enraged Godzilla on some occasions for the purpose of him attacking other countries - just so they can 'pick up the pieces' for their own benefit - part of my idea to make the organization sound really corrupt and uncaring as to however many human lives are lost in the process.
(There was an example of this uncaring nature in the film Godzilla X Megaguirus, when Professor Yoshino Yoshizawa housed a secret Plasma Power Plant inside the science institute in Tokyo, with the hope of it generating great wealth for the country in the future - despite knowing that Godzilla was attracted to it following his attack on a Plasma Power Plant in Osaka some years ago, and the potential for human lives to be lost).
In regards to the legends and folklore surrounding the Welsh Dragon, there are two legends. The first is the story Lludd and Llefelys, while the second is the story of King Vortigern trying to build his castle on the hill where the dragons were buried underneath. I put both stories in the description of a picture I did of the two dragons: fav.me/d5rt97c (The second of the two legends which explains the beginning of Myrddin Emrys - better known in English as Merlin the wizard in the stories of King Arthur).
The Red Dragon has always been beloved by the Welsh and nowadays serves as a symbolic reference to Britain's strength and pride, as well as a symbol of Welsh culture, heritage and their nation's defiance of any external threats - especially considering the white dragon it fought and defeated was a 'foreign invader' (the invading Saxons).
Also, while European dragons were generally seen as evil creatures that hoarded treasure and caused destruction any way they saw fit, the Welsh Dragon is recognized as an exception to that rule - mysticalgenie.com/2011/10/23/d… (Paragraph 1)

I'm at a bit of a dilemma regarding that question, for the following reason:
What happened after the battle between the Red and White Dragons differs from story telling to story telling. Some say the red dragon killed the white, others say the white fled after losing and some say both dragons ended up back under Dinas Emrys after the white dragon is defeated.
My main idea would be that that both end up under Dinas Emrys again after the Red Dragon defeats the White. In the centuries that go by, the conflict between them finally subsides - symbolic to how nowadays the nations of Britain are no longer fighting each other and are allied with one another. On the Union Jack, the English Flag (white with the red cross) represents England and Wales as one, while in 2003 the during his enthronement at Canterbury Cathedral, Archbishop Rowan Williams wore hand-woven gold silk robes bearing a gold and silver clasp that showed both the white saxon dragon (representing England) and the red welsh dragon (representing Wales).
So, when the dragons are both awakened to fight Godzilla, they fight together as allies.
My alternative idea is I cut the white dragon out of the story altogether.
