based on the idea that the "Infinite" we saw was always an illusion, his actual body being in the base stored with the real Phantom Ruby as opposed to the receivers the illusion and Eggman held. It morphed into his bones and keeps him alive no matter how much he wants death

the Ruby doesn't have much energy by itself though and Infinite never had any "power" so he has to steal chaos energy from power cells and eventually hunting the chaos/sol emeralds he has to work on keeping sane though

there's no way this would ever be canon but ayy
