It is related to the comic-book "The Sandman", one of the hits of the 90's. Neil Gaiman wrote an amazing (really, really awesome) story about the Endless, a group of siblings that represent all the different aspect of the human being (Destiny , Death , Dream , Destruction , Desire , Delirium , and Despair ).
Sandman (Morpheus, Dream) is the main character. Al the items that surrounds the main characters represent his siblings.
