I got inspired by a picture ~imtara made some time ago, and asked her if I could use it as strong reference for a picture of my own, namely this deviation. Have a look at the original picture at [link] .This picture is fairly quick compared to most of my other work, and I'm trying out a different colouring technique, that is both fast and gives, if I may say so myself, a pretty decent outcome.
It's a bit messy even though I spent a moment trying to reduce the superfluous lining and shading, but my hand is pretty much killing me as it is. And I need sleep (3.15 am).
I'd love your feedback.

Yes it is, the phoenix is a bird in Egyptian mythology that lived in the desert for 500 years and then consumed itself by fire... 3 days later it is said to be reborn from its ashes. Though phoenix is also an archaic term for a person or thing of unsurpassed beauty.
Betcha didn't know that...
But then the dragon can be viewed as a type of bird too in many civilizations... ok I will shut up now... I love your art ^^

) but still it's very colorful. And that's very good according to me, because I like both black and colors very much
And I like your new style of coloring, I can't put my finger on what it is, but it's very nice. Looks like colored pencils.
