As part of my Avatar Legends TTRPG, one of my friends characters, Litha Conil.
Growing up in Ba Sing Se, she lives in the upper rings in luxury and safety.
Her family is one of the largest manufacturers for mechanics and tech at the time. Within the Upper Rings, it would be hard not to know the name Conil Artistry.
While she is able to defend and fend for herself, her earthbending has never been favoured for fighting.
Instead, her family is known for their manipulation and ability to control Sand, and Glass, with incredible precision and skill. Usually, these come in use strictly in their crafting, in the menagerie of items they produce for the Earth Kingdom.

Just before she meets the rest of the party membersm, as Heir to the company, she has come across a series of concerning secrets regarding the Monarchy and her family. Secrets she's trying to solve and get to the bottom of.
Secrets regarding their move from the Middle Ring to the Upper Ring generations ago.
Secrets her father has been keeping about... hidden blueprints strictly for the Monarch.
Secrets that lead her to the Dai Li, and the devices they use to try to Mind Control people.
Secrets about the corruption of the Dai Li and how far they are willing to go for the Earth Monarchy.

Her father, an unknown amount of her family, are willing participants to the unjust treatment so much of Ba Sing Se, and the rest of the Earth Kingdom, are forced to experience. Litha just found out, and can't stand for it.
And she doesn't even know of the war and threat of the Fire Nation spreading just outside the City Walls
