There were a lot of things in my mind when I drew this comic. So many things. Relationships in general can never be perfect. You can't get into one and not end up being hurt or hurting the other at some point. It doesn't have to be physical, it could be emotional and even psychological. Any form of hurt can happen even if it wasn't meant to be done on purpose. But the focus here is not the conflict but several other things. That moment of realization, that moment when you decided to not swallow but spit out your pride, that moment you asked for forgiveness and that moment your heart softened and you decided to forgive. It can never be a one way thing. It's a two way process because that's how love is. You end up doing things you or some people thought was impossible. You know you love a person when you let yourself be vulnerable in their presence and you know that you love each other when both of you want to work it out despite all the bull that happened. All that matters in the end is love.-------
To my girlfriend,
On January 1, it's going to be our 2nd Anniversary. That's 2 years of hugs, kisses, loving, laughter, phone calls, conflicts and all the other stuff. We've been through a lot, sure it wasn't a smooth ride, we had our conflicts and all but if it's one thing we both know it's that we never gave up on each other. You were always there in my life. Hell, even in TF2 you're still there. You became my Soldier and I, your Medic. I'd heal you wherever you went while you protected me and made sure to bring me to then nearest pill or medkit when I needed it. That's love and being a proper gentleman at the same time. LOL Oh you.
I love you, hon. More years to come for the both of us. I'll marry you someday, I promise.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE PHYSICAL PRESENTATION OF THIS PIECE :
I actually loved this a lot because my emotions were once again poured out on it. It's not perfect but I enjoyed making it. Enjoying is important. I'm still improving and I will get better at some point. XD Well guys, I hope you enjoyed this Soldic piece.
Also, if you remember "Bitte " the same gray theme was applied to it.

"Vhy veren't you protecting me?! I am ze only one on zis team who can save you from death! It is your fault that ve lost!" yelled Medic at Soldier after the 9th fight that their team lost. The past few fights, Medic and Soldier had remain polite and kind to each other, as most couples would. However, the ninth time they had lost, their tempers were hidden for to long.
"Protecting YOU? Why weren't you healing me all the time?! If you did that then we would have won!" responded Soldier, baring his teeth.
"There are others who need mein help! Yes, I care about you but that doesn't mean I can't save Pyro or vne of our otzer team mates from dying vhen you are overhealed!"
"MAGGOT! I WOULD HAVE PROTECTED YOU, BUT YOU DIDN'T PROTECT ME!"Β
SLAP. Soldier's hand collided with Medic's left cheek, leaving a huge bruise and knocking him and his glasses onto the ground. Medic was lost for words and stared at Soldier in disbelief. Tempers were high but to hit one's lover? That was unheard of for Medic. Even when he was a child and his parents were fighting (which happened a lot), they would never physically hurt one another.Β
"I don't care if Scout, Heavy, or even you are at low health. IF WE ARE IN THE ENEMY BASE, YOU STAY BY ME AND JUST KEEP HEALING. TO HELL WITH THE OTHERS, YOU STAND BY IN THE OTHER BASE! IS. THAT. CLEAR." screamed the soldier, his mouth ready to yell some more.
Medic looked at Sol, his ice blue eyes drilling into his partner's eyes with hatred and sadness. His gaze caused Soldier to freeze with his mouth open, making him realize what he just said to his lover. Without another word, Medic put on his glasses, got on his feet and walked into a different room, leaving Soldier to think about the words he just yelled.
Medic was sitting down the in dinning room, his hand in one of this hands, trying to nurse the bruise without any ice. He had stopped crying a while ago, thinking that his partner would have said sorry by now. But he didn't come. Did he really mean what he said? Was it actually his fault that the team lost? Would Soldier protect him in the next battle, or leave him alone as a treat for the opposite team? The door opened, which snapped Medic out of his thoughts and he looked at who was there. The first thing he laid eyes on was a green helmet, the one only Soldier had, showing off it's owner's hair. So had he come to apologize or say it was his fault again? His eyes were full of sorrow and hurt and sadness, as if he was going to apologize. But looks can be deceiving, and he could just be using this to lure Medic into listening to his yelling. Soldier walked over to Medic, and as soon as he was next to the chair, Medic stood up with his fist clenched.
"If you have come to say it vas mein fault again, you-"
Medic stopped his speech when Soldier pulled him into a bone-crushing hug. Realizing that his lover wouldn't start screaming in his ear, since for once he was quiet, Medic hugged back and let his tears flow again, hoping that he wouldn't be hit again. But Soldier whispered two words in his ear, so soft only Medic could hear them.
"I'm sorry..."

I think this is truly a great representation of the relationship between people. And it touched me deeply, even made me sad. Recently I just parted with a close friend whom I've known for over a decade due to a disagreement. It's hard because we both hurt each other in some way and while I had admitted to my mistakes and asked for forgiveness she wasn't quite willing to give it. It was a complicated situation, but it's disappointing that it had to end even though I didn't want it to. But I also knew that things between us had changed drastically because of this and also that I shouldn't have to crawl on my belly just for her to forgive me. In the end I just told her that if she needed to talk to me whether it be tomorrow or sometime in the future, I would be here.
And yeah that's my story. Sorry, that was probably really boring. But things are looking up right now and I still have good friends to support me as well as family. So not all is lost. Thanks for this, it really just reminds us that we all have our rocky points. But it doesn't mean it'll last forever and that the rain will pass allowing the sun to come out. So nice work!

This is my favourite Soldier X Medic deviation in all DeviantART...
It's deep, and in a way romantic.
I used to be like Soldier, and I used to have anger problems. I am currently in therapy, and in these four years fortunately I changed a lot. My fiancΓ©e always supported me during our long relationship ( we are together since 2002 ) and she reminds me of the Medic. I think he cares about Soldier, even if Soldier sometimes cannot control his anger and he have problems in shoving his true feelings.
So... Sorry for the long and maybe useless comment, but your deviation made me think about my life, and I thought that I needed to share my story.

This struck a lot of chords within me...between this comic and the description. I have a bit of a tough relationship with a couple people in my family. Of course we don't go around literally punching each other in the face, but the words end up doing that sometimes.
But on a lighter note, I too have a few wonderful close friendships that I would not trade for anything in the world. This made me think of that, too.
Haha...I'm a sucker for black and white. Colouring Medic's eyes was a great choice. In short, this comic is very well-executed.

I am not a sollyxmedic fan, but this work is so... Touching. I love this, even if I am against hitting your pairing. On the other hand, I understand Soldier can be really aggressive, and... Well, It's only a comic.

I understand, hitting your significant other is a big no-no. That's where it just draws the line. On Solly's case, he tries so hard but he just has aggression problems and people like him are very hard to handle (takes a lot of patience and love). What I'm emphasizing here though is that he didn't mean hurting medic, he just lashed out without thinking. XD

You know... I'm not a SollyxMedic fan but I can't help but love this anyway. It's so... well, sweet isn't the word but it's the only thing that's coming to mind. The emotion you poured into it really shines through a lot. You did very well and the play of lighting along with only coloring the eyes really makes it. Great work.
