Here is the constructive critique you wanted:
I would say that your proportions are off right off the bat. Your eyes seem a little to high on the face and should be 1/2 cm lower. The left side of the face is skewed from your perspective. For the rendering you have saturated your image which is not needed and should be best avoided. Less is often more and will really make your highlights show. Think of it this way on white paper the highlights are already there so all you have to do is the mid tones which should be very light and the shadows which are much deeper but also should be deeper. On colored tone paper the mid tones are already there so then all you have to do is the shadows and the highlights. Lastly before you start rendering make sure that your underling sketch is exactly the way you want or need it before you start to render.
