Description game babble:

This lineart is as close as I think I'm going towards "fan art". It's inspired by one game I've been playing lot of and it keeps on surprising me with it's seemingly endless depth. A real difficulty curve and meaningful customization combined with a deep storyline.

The game is called Final Fantasy XI.

I really felt XIII was an action game where constant saves and auto-battle functions made the game so passive that I felt like it didn't need me to be holding the controller to finish it. To me the whole game seemed to be like a parody of modern game design.

But not XI it feels more like a hyper version of FFIII where even normal fights can become a battle for life and death and the player is severely punished for failing. This in turn makes the game a lot more rewarding to play.

Besides I just like running around as a knee-high tarutaru blasting nukes!

art babble:

First I drew this piece digitally and it looked to me quite okay. I felt some uncertainty with my lines however in the coloring face and that's why I re-drew the whole thing with pencil. Just to see if I can really say that the digital drawing really doesn't need pencil lines. This might be a personal choice but in my view the pencil edition is far better than the digital one. I might post a comparison image in the scraps when the painting is done. (remember to bug me about it if I forget!)

I think I was trying to draw a cat back there but it turned out to look like a dog/pig-thing. I thought it was funny so I left it as it is. (note to self draw some damn cats!)

The coloring is so far looking very Russian (!?) so I might end up completely re-painting this for the 3rd time. But I wanna keep that XI feel with the colors even if this isn't "fan art".

I know I probably should be painting something more meaningful but I like bunnies and bears. I'm sorry!

But for now my Black Mage needs some leveling!

Thanks for peeking

This is a nice fanart. I wish we could ride bears in FFXI!
I'm a 7-year vet on Quetzy. Which server are you on?

Thanks. Let's call it "inspired" by rather than fanart since there's actually nothing here seen in XI. I wish I could ride bears too but they probably wouldn't be as fast as chocobos.

I'm on Seiferdincht on Asura.

Riding a Baa would be priceless though...

How about a lizard? Heheh...
I've seen concept art that had Goblins fighting on the backs of lizards. It was awesome.

I figured that it's going to take 7 months for this game that cost me all of 5€ to cost what other games do. Now it's become like a warm blanket to return to. When I'm disappointed by new games that I play (I could insert a list here) I feel comfort in the fact that there's still stuff to discover in XI and I know it's good. I have this thing that if I play a bunch of sucky games in a row I might lose interest in playing anything for a long time. Of all the FFs IX is still my favourite.

Thanks for looking.

Yea. As of late I've been running very tight on cash, and so I've been selling a lot of old games that I haven't played in like...ever. And now I have like...three or four left? Pokemon SoulSilver and Heroes of Mana...and I'm actually contemplating on selling pkmn back and getting something else (I beat like most of it soooo, and I'm by no means a perfectionist XD).

But of course <3

I really wanna play both of those games. How does heroes of mana compare to the rest of Mana series? Can't wait to play my first mana game some day.

Who am I kidding. It's goin to be year 2030 when I finish all those Shin Megami Tensei games that ooze polish and awesomeness!

HoM is different. It's a tactical game, where as the other Mana games were all like adventure. It's not bad, I mean, there are some good things and some bad. The camera is annoying, and the fact that you can't go back and do past battles. The other thing that I dislike about it, compared to other similar games, is that you don't got a lot of customization when it come to the leader units. You can equip them with three different times, each equipment type specializes in upping attack, attack speed, or range, as well as HP. Often times you sacrifice HP or another stat to bring up something else. But the story is decent, I didn't get horribly far but *shrugs* It's EXTREMELY linear. And that line is only one way. The battle system is decent enough, the graphics are alright. I'm never impressed with sound, but it was decent enough as well. Controls takes some getting use to, but doesn't take long. A strategy guide is recommend, simply since you can't go backwards, and it's very helpful to find all the hidden items on a field, and what not.
To be honest, I was comparing it to Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings(Or however you spell it, and I like RW better. I mean, they're different games, though similar enough in battle really (and since it's more or less all about the battling . . . XD)

But my favorite mana game of all time would have to be Seiken Densetsu 3 (secret of mana two, which Heroes of Mana takes place before, and makes references and stuff to SD3). You'd have to find the rom and snes emulator, but it's worth it I think <3 (besides, neither are hard to find XD) But...yea. . .I'll stop rambling now XD Sorry.

Aww the little bear mount is so adorable! Your line art is so thin and clean :] Iv never played the FF games but I have always been intrigued by them. Hearing a good review on (the most recent one?) is a good sign :]

I'd suggest anything from I to XI they're excellent game that age really well. I couldn't recommend XIII to pretty much anyone. That game has everything I hate about modern game design in one package. Thanks for the comment.
