Oh boi, I’m bad at giving advice but I’ll try!
for making feathered wings I work in layers, the top being the shortest while the back being your long ones. Make sure to change the length of feathers slightly throughout and not make them too short when it comes closer to the body.
For shading, to be frank, I wing it. Follow light sources and just below feathers you want to appear longer, a little shading underneath
