Bright and all alone,
This being of love once shone
With light piercing a darkened heart;
Which in a flash then broke apart.

Alone it lies in a sea of cold,
To tender hands it once was sold.
Dropped unknowing, lacking firm grip,
The hands left it there not seeking round trip.

So on the gravel the rose must wait
To once again be held on that special date.
