Hi guys! So maybe you heard the news about Disney's Live Action casting of the Little Mermaid, more specifically Halle Bailey as Ariel. There's a lot of mixed reaction to it, but lots of people are really excited, and I for one am excited to see how it turns out. I don't really like the Little Mermaid plot-wise, so it can only go up from there, right?
Anyways, since Halle appears obviously very different from the Ariel you might be used to, I decided to see what it would look like if the 2D Ariel looked a little bit more like her! This was pretty fun to do, especially her hair!
I personally would love to see this film take place in the Carribean or something like that. I know the original story is Danish, but my one prayer is that they keep Sebastian's voice! Who knows! We have a while to wait for this one. Anyways, hope you like it

Changing the setting is my biggest hope for the movie.
I have to admit that I see the point of both the delight and outrage at the casting of Halle Bailey; as redheads have been persecuted for hundreds, if not thousands of years, and they only account for 2% of the worlds population.
Moreover, theres actually a few African-Americans who are disappointed because it feels as though Disney is doing tokenism and refusing to create new stories centred around POC people, and are instead changing pre-established characters and acting as though they are doing a good thing.
Regardless, Iβm really happy for Halle, as she seems like a wonderful up-and-coming actress. I hope she nails this role.

i think that many people consider that here is happening the same thing that happened with alex proya's "gods of egypt", where egyptian gods were portrayed as european instead of mediterranean or african, and to change a clearly european character into a black one is what annoy the people because they think is only worsening the racial problem...

I get the redheads side to it. I personally didn't know about the other tokenism point, that is an excellent point. Hopefully Disney creates something original with this movie so it seems like a completely new and fresh take! But Halle's voice is fantastic! I really hope I like how she does!!!
