Please, please, please ย do not take offense, but I am just not a real fan of digital art. Some in the art world consider that snobbery, but it just isn't for me. However, I couldn't not take notice of this one since I have Fjords and one of them is a red dun and I love the pose. It makes me think of my lady every time so I added it to favorites. Glad you are showing the different coats too. So many misunderstand. I even had someone insist my Red Dun girl couldn't POSSIBLY be a full blooded Fjord because she didn't have the black stripe, like my brown dun, and her red was obscured because she was dirty from all the red dirt we have here. It just completely blended in. I thought I was going to have to pull out her papers! LOL but decided I didn't have a thing to prove. I know what she is and she acts like a Fjord (friendly, willing, strong, versatile etc, etc.) - can you tell I love Fjords? - And that is all that matters. So I have to say to you, good job and to the non-believer - Thpppppptttttttt! )P.ย

Thx a lot for your comment ! Sure, all Fjord horses don't have all the primitive markings as the dorsal stripe, or the zebra stripes, but they ARE Fjords ! People think they know all about Fjords but they are wrong. As the dun gene dilute the base color of the coat, it's normal that the marking is more or less visible depending on individuals .ย
I love Fjords, I have one, bay dun, full blood, but the zebra stripes are barely visible ^^.ย
So I wanted to paint all coats, with different markings, but anyway Fjords !
I had problems with grey coats, so I stopped, but I think I'll draw the grulla, dunskin and dunalino soon ^^.

You are welcome. Interesting you mention the zebra striping. I have noticed on both of mine that they are far more visible in the summer with the red dun having the more prominent of the two, but her forelock striping isn't as prominent as the rest of her striping. She carries the recessive for the gray so I am hoping when breeding her to get lucky and come out with a gray dun of my own. (fingers crossed) - even though that isn't the most important thing I am looking for by far. Confirmation, temperament and a healthy foal are first on my list.
It is interesting hearing the names for the different Duns you use. Here in the US and the NFHR they are known as Brown Dun (of course most prominent of the Duns), Red Dun, Yellow Dun, Gray Dun and White Dun. It is funny how people are and I am sure it is only going to get worse here now with the movie "Frozen", with the prince riding a Fjord, having come out. I just hope people don't start with foolish and poorly thought out breeding practices due to sudden popularity. It happened with 101 Dalmations - oh the idiocy that occurred! Plus the silly notion that people think because they are such good natured horses that you don't have to "break" them in. I hate that term break, but it is what is commonly used, not how I go about things. They think they are just born ready to ride and forget that although they tend to be a quieter horse, they are still a horse, and a smart one at that who will train them in seconds flat! Those are the people I have heard complain that their Fjord is stubborn which just isn't true, they are just smarter than their owners haha Would your Bay Dun be equivalent to the Brown Dun? They are all so cute, every time I so much as look at mine in can't help going "Squuueeeee!!!!, oh wootchy, wootchy you cute little things". I turn to mush. Silly, I know, but it just can't be helped.

The shading is amazing well everything! One thing if you add a little bit darker brown or black to the top of the mane and in the tail it would look even better! It's better than I can do

Fjords are never ever palamino or roan. They are always a Dun. There are 5 types of Dun, those being Brown (90% of them), White, Grey, Red and yellow Dun. White markings such as stars, stripes, white feet etc. of any kind are strongly frowned upon and I believe this eliminates them from consideration as breeding stock. With some of the lighter ones it is difficult to see the dorsal stripe in the forelock, mane and all, but it is there. I have a red dun and a brown dun that are pictured in my profile if you want to see the difference. A great place to see the 5 colors is on nfhr.org which is one of the registry sites.
