Description

Since Fighter 11 is confirmed to be our very last DLC character for Smash, I've been toying with the idea of a roster extension just for fun. If I had to extend the Smash roster beyond the characters we got in base game, Fighter Pass Vol. 1, and Fighter Pass Vol. 2, here's who I'd include and why:

1. Geno (Super Mario RPG): I had to include this one since he was my most wanted character for Fighter Pass Vol. 2, and he'd complete the line of long-wanted characters after Ridley, King K. Rool, and Banjo & Kazooie too. He has so much moveset potential from Super Mario RPG, and could even share some similar moves to Samus, Mega Man, and Mii Gunner to fill in the gaps.

2. Waluigi (Mario): An extended Ultimate roster would not be an extended Ultimate roster without the Great Wah. He'd be the only character whom I could see effectively working as both an assist trophy AND a playable fighter in the same game. For me, Waluigi would also bring a sense of completeness to the group of prominent Mario spinoff characters already on the fighting roster; Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Bowser Jr., and Wario. We'd finally be able to have a battle of Mario Bros vs. Wario Bros too ;o)

3. Dixie Kong (Donkey Kong): There's been a lot of fan outcry for another Donkey Kong rep, and not only is Dixie Kong highly requested, but I think she is the most deserving too. Dixie is perhaps the most prominent character in the original Donkey Kong Country series aside from DK himself, Diddy, and King K. Rool. It would be interesting to see what she could do in battle with her ponytail, bubblegum popguns, and possibly her guitar too ;o)

4. Urbosa (Breath of the Wild): I originally intended to have all four Champions from Breath of the Wild as a four-in-one character that functions a lot like Pokémon Trainer, but having looked more deeply into things, it seems more likely that Nintendo would only choose one Champion to be playable. I decided to go with Urbosa, as she seems to have the most prominent role in Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity out of all four Champions. She also seems to have the biggest fan base out of all the Champions too, and she'd be both another female fighter and a new non-clone Zelda character, so it's a win-win.

5. Sylux (Metroid): Yes, Sylux would be a promo pick for Metroid Prime 4. His spirit isn't in the game at all, so I think it would be a nice opportunity to introduce him to the battleground ;o)

6. Bandana Dee (Kirby): I'm including Bandana Dee to finally complete the Kirby quartet, cause it's just weird having Kirby, Meta Knight, and King Dedede without him. I think Bandana Dee has a lot of moveset potential though, having seen what he can do in some of the Kirby games in which he is playable. He'd be our first spear-wielder too.

7. Arceus Trainer (Pokémon Legends: Arceus): I am including the Pokémon Trainers from Pokémon Legends: Arceus both to promote the game and get Decidueye in Smash (as he was almost chosen as the Gen 7 rep for base game, and there has been fan outcry for a fully evolved grass starter too). The Arceus Trainer's lineup would consist of Cyndaquil, Dewott, and Decidueye.

8. Porky (Mother/Earthbound): Porky's spirit is not in the game at all, and neither has he returned as a boss, which I think would be a perfect opportunity to introduce him as a fighter. I think it would be really interesting to see what he can do in his Spider Mech too ;o)

9. Octoling (Splatoon): Yes, I'm including echo fighters, and Octoling would be an echo fighter for Inkling. I think it would be a nice way to promote Splatoon 3 as well.

10. Girl (Rhythm Heaven): We were evidently supposed to get a Rhythm Heaven character in Smash 4, so I thought I might give that series similar treatment to ARMS and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Another female, non-protagonist fighter. The Girl doesn't have a spirit in the game at all, which I think would make for a nice opportunity to both introduce her as a fighter and bring in other Rhythm Heaven spirits that we don't already have. She'd be another flat 2D character too, and Mr. Game & Watch would no longer be the only one. Perhaps they could be buddies lol.

11. Dr. Eggman (Sonic the Hedgehog): I think the Sonic series deserves another playable character, and while there are many viable candidates, I feel that Dr. Eggman has the most to offer out of all of them. He'd have a lot of moveset potential fighting in a mech, and he'd bring a sense of completeness to the iconic gaming villains in Smash such as Bowser, Ganondorf, and Sephiroth.

12. Ms. Pac-Man: She would be Pac-Man's echo fighter, and I think a legendary female arcade character like her deserves a spot on the playable fighting roster too ;o)

13. Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden): I just had to include this guy. Ryu Hayabusa been one of my most wanted characters for Fighter Pass Vol. 2, I think he'd be really cool, and we'd finally have another ninja character to go with Sheik and Greninja. He'd be sort of a nice retro third party character too, as Ninja Gaiden has had prominent history on Nintendo consoles (particularly in the 90's).

14. Crash Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot): How can I pass up the opportunity to include not only one of the most highly requested third party characters for Smash, but also one of the most iconic gaming mascots? Crash definitely seems to be the missing link among mascot characters such as Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man too, and his playable inclusion would fix that ;o)

15. Coco Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot): She would be Crash's echo fighter, and I think she is iconic enough to deserve that kind of role in an extended Super Smash Bros Ultimate roster.

16. Yuri Lowell (Tales of Vesperia): I definitely think the Tales Of series deserves playable representation in Smash. I know many Smash fans want Lloyd Irving, but Yuri Lowell seems to be just as popular. I kind of think it would be interesting to have a more recent and more relevant representative of the Tales Of series too. That, my friends, is where Yuri comes in ;o)

17. Sora (Kingdom Hearts): Sora is perhaps the most highly requested character worldwide, most prominently in Japan and the West. Having been a Kingdom Hearts fan since fourth grade, I think it would be nice to see Sora finally join the battle too. Perhaps that's one thing he could be doing after fading away from Destiny Islands at the end of Kingdom Hearts 3 lol.

18. Jonesy (Fortnite): Lol I'm so sorry guys, but this is another promo pick. Fortnite is a HUGE game worldwide, HIGHLY marketable, and it seems to be very popular in Japan too. The Japanese like Battle Royale games. Steve would also have a buddy, as he and Jonesy are both builders lol.

NOTE: If any of these characters on my list turns out to be Fighter 11, then I have Jibanyan as a Wild Card pick, just because of how popular Yo-Kai Watch is in Japan.
