Is it the strategy of the game or just that you need a broom to play. I don't know, but all of a sudden I've been watching Curling a lot more. And this made me sketch and color this out.© Disney

Technically she wouldn't have a broom. The person who throws the stone doesn't actually do any of the sweeping.

Except that the 'throwers' need the broom for stability. So they do, in fact, have a broom under their arms while throwing the rock.

Maybe one percent of curlers don't use a broom (or a stabilizer) when throwing the rock. Here's one with a stabilizer [link] and here is an example of one with a broom [link]
