(America x Reader)

When you finally managed to fall asleep, a voice echoed in your head. It was very familiar…and feminine. Your eyes flashed open and you saw nothing but white all around. Was it the narrator speaking to you?
“WAKE UP!”
Yes. That was definitely her. You rubbed your eyes. They were still stinging from where you had been crying. You must have looked like a mess. “What do you want?”
“You have a choice to make~,” The voice said cheerfully. “You can no longer pass through worlds. You have had a year to make your decision. Where do you belong? The world you were born in, or the one you chose to go to? You must tell me now.”
Your jaw dropped. Choose? You’d have to leave one behind? You glanced at the bracelet that dangled so weightlessly on your wrist. America’s smiling face appeared in your mind. It was quickly interrupted, however, by the vision of your parents and your friends crying at your disappearance. You frowned.
“Not to be a witch…but I don’t have all day, you know,” the voice said rather curtly.
You sighed. “I know where I belong. But I worry about those I leave behind. May I tell them goodbye?”
“Your existence in whatever world you leave will be erased. It will be like you were never there,” the voice explained. “So there is no need for goodbyes. They won’t even remember you.”
You paused for a moment, your expression thoughtful. Then a tiny smile graced your features. “Then I know exactly where I belong.”

America had locked himself in his room. France and Britain stood outside, their expressions concerned. They had tried everything to get him to come out but he refused. They weren’t even sure if he was eating!
“On three,” Britain whispered to France. France nodded. “One…two…THREE!”
As the two slammed into the door, it immediately fell causing them to fall face-first on the ground. America stared at them flatly. He was only wearing a pair of boxer shorts and a T-shirt. His room was littered with hamburger wrappings.
“Didn’t I tell you to leave me alone?” He asked. “It’s impossible for me to be dramatic around here!”
Britain jumped to his feet. “Why is your door off of its hinges?!”
“Oh, that? It’s been broken for a while…” America muttered. He hid under his bed-sheets. “Now leave me alone…”
France stood and sighed. He fixed his hair and smoothed his clothes. “Well at least you’re eating…”
“Duh,” America’s voice was muffled by the fabric. “Hamburgers are the only things that ease my pain…”
Britain rolled his eyes. “This is just ri-”
A hand lighted on his shoulder. He snapped his head back and smiled at the person behind him. You returned the smile and placed a finger to your lips to tell him to be quiet. You did the same to France. The two of them left the room, picking up the door and putting it in place as they went.
You sat down on the edge of the bed and poked the lump under the covers. America’s head popped up and he opened his mouth to yell, when your smiling face stopped him. He frowned.
“I didn’t think I’d be seeing you again,” he muttered.
Your smile fell. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to stand you up. Honest! I’d never-”
“Yeah, yeah! Tell it to the burger!” America said. He held up a half-eaten hamburger.
Tears swelled in your eyes. “Look, you! I wasn’t sure if I should tell you this but it looks like I don’t have a choice! I come from a totally different world! Except now I don’t belong there! I erased my existence there so I could come back to you! I love you, America!”
America’s eyes widened. He blinked a few times. You held your breath, unsure of how he would react.
“Why didn’t you just say so?!”
You paused for a moment. “Y-You believe me?”
“Of course I do! You’re just like my best friend Tony!” America smiled and clasped your hands in his. “Only…cuter…and female…Anyways, I had something for you, remember?”
You blushed. “You really should stop buying me things…”
“I think you’ll want this,” America stated with confidence. He took a deep breath and revealed to you the beautiful diamond ring that he had purchased. “______, will you-”
“YES!” You yelled, interrupting him.
America laughed happily and scratched his neck. “That was easy…”
You two stared at each other for a moment. He leaned forwards slowly, only stopping once to wink at you before kissing you gently. You wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him closer. Maybe you hadn’t gotten your kiss on New Year’s. But you were making up for it.
“And you lived happily ever after!”
You and America parted and looked around the room, searching for the person who had spoken. You laughed and snuggled up closer to your fiancé.
“Don’t worry about it.”
