Wake-Up Call
(Midnight x Reader 3)
“Would you stop groaning?” Midnight hoisted you further over his shoulder, causing you to groan louder. Your whole body was sore due to the spider’s venom.
“Never again…”
“Hmm?”
“I’m never scouting again…heck, I might never go outside again!” You tried shifting your body so that his shoulder wasn’t jabbing you in the ribcage, but failed miserably. “This is really uncomfortable, you know.”
Before you could even finish your sentence, Midnight tossed you up into the air. Your eyes were the size of lightbulbs as he caught you, bridal-style. “Better?”
You opened your mouth, but all that exited was a tiny squeak. Finally, you just nodded. You thought that Midnight would start trekking back to the hideout, but instead he just stared at you, his wine colored eyes fixed with your (eye color) ones.
“You’re an idiot,” he stated flatly, cool puffs of air fanning your lips with every word. It could’ve been the remaining venom, but you highly doubted it was the spider’s fault you were feeling lightheaded again.
“Well you’re a…a…” All you could concentrate on was how close his face was to yours. You’d always found Midnight attractive; Cobra had even confronted you about it at one point. You had denied it, of course, but now that there was no one around…
“Do you want to kiss me?” Midnight’s question caught you completely off-guard. Though the answer was obvious, the blank expression on his face made it hard to tell if he actually wanted you to say yes or not.
“Dooooo you want to kiss me?” ‘Genius comeback,’ the little voice inside your head face-palmed. Midnight tilted his head slightly, a lock of hair brushing against his jaw. He seemed to be seriously contemplating his answer. Did he want to kiss you? The fact that he was in perfect position seemed to be a good sign, but it was also driving you crazy. You opened your mouth to speak, but stopped as he brushed his fingers against the soft skin of your cheek. “W-What are you…?”
“______,” Midnight’s eyes began to close as he leaned forwards. “Please shut up.”

“Where the heck are they?” Cobra murmured as he stared at a fly that had been hovering around the same spot for close to an hour. Finally, he heard a twig snap and saw two figures making their way towards the hideout. “Seriously…”
A goofy grin twisted your lips as you laced your fingers with Midnight’s. He didn’t really seem to care, or if he did he wasn’t showing it. His expression was just as empty as it always was. You, however, could not hide your enthusiasm.
“Hey, Cobra! Guess what!” You gave your teammate a toothy smile.
Cobra merely waved you off. “Don’t tell me what happened. I have a feeling I really don’t wanna know.”
And Cobra never placed another bet again.
