HA i FINALLY FINISHED IT!!!ok this took me AGES> i started it 2 yesterday afternoon and ive been at it since then being on the computer for about 8 hours now so im guessing it took me about 4 and a half hours. but i tried as much detail as possible. is it possible to sign up linarts for crituques??? anywway tell if im not alloud hahahahah . so um linart by

It's pretty good. I like the overall color scheme and the different colored eyes was a nice interesting touch. I like the idea of where you're going with this, but there are a few problems that I'd love to see you change.
First, the background is pretty bland. The rust red doesn't quite jibe with the feel of the image either, it's a bit to heavy and gloomy a color to go with a bubblegum-pink anime girl.
You've obviously got a good sense of how you want the colors to go, and I like what you've chosen, but there are almost no shadows visible anywhere here. With a darker background like she has, you'd think the shadowing would be much darker and deeper. The lighting on her looks more like it should be in a bright sunny field with a broad light source and passive reflected light all around.
I think if you punch up the shadows a bit and really settle on a light source (or sources) you could make this really outstanding. You've obviously got the patience and attention to detail to do subtle shading, so it might be real good practice to grind away at some stronger shadowing and light source practice.

thank you. now that i see yea the background is REALLY bland. and i guess i do need more shadowing . originally i was trying to avoid too much shadowing i guess it was better to keep it

oh i use corel painter essentiuals. yea. i like the brushes they provied but everyone says i should use photoshop. hmm. but its nice to be different. what do u use?

I use Photoshop CS3. Neither one is better than the other, really, but it takes a totally different technique to use them. I still suck with Painter, and I'm saving up to get a copy of 11 some time soon.
There's textures and brush work in painter that you just can't easily reproduce in photoshop, but the layer system photoshop uses is fantastic. Painter probably has something similar, I just haven't sat down to figure it all out yet.

yea im pretty much the same when i comes to photoshop. for me its way complicated .. so corel painter for me was easier to use and i like the layout for it. anyeay thanks for anything

Well, if you ever decide to try out Photoshop I went through about a thousand online tutorials and figured out a lot of stuff on my own, so I can probably offer some helpful tips and advice for beginners. And, of course, there are plenty of tutorials all over deviantart too.
