Whew... I don't generally do mech stuff. Ever. Because it takes for-friggin'-ever. BUT! This has been buzzing around my head for a while now, and I finally decided to try it out.This is the first in what I HOPE will be a series of MLP crossover art, called Mobile Suit Equestria: Friendship Must Advance.
For any of you attending Anime Weekend Atlanta this year, you can look forward to prints (and possibly posters) of this.

Also really great coloring. I love the way how Dash's hair might be colored rainbow, or it could be like a dirty blondy and it's just showing up in rainbow colors from the ambient light thats hitting it.

If you were going with an EVA based concept, I would have called the series Neon Genesis Equestria, rather than Mobile Suit.

Concerning your other point, I will quote myself from a previous explanation:
"I don't intend this to be an exclusive parody concerning Eva or Gundam. It could fall into any of those universes, in my opinion. I'm not a mecha enthusiast, and my idea of that whole genre is probably different than that of hardcore fans. For example, I consider the term "mobile suit" to basically mean any kind of mech suit. So Eva, Gundams, and even Jaegers fall into that category for me. I'm sure some folks will disagree with me, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it."

I'm not really sure yet. If you notice, discord is shown in this pic as an "angel" from Evangelion. So if anything, I'd show the villains that way. Time will tell.
