I think Pat Garrett shot Billy the Kid with a Sharps rifle. At least according to wikipedia, that's the case.

That's true... Did some further research (Garrett and the Kid wiki bio's contradict each other) and it appears you're right. Also found out the Sharps rifle works with a single shot reload mechanism, so how could he have shot twice with it? XD
