(I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away)

Your radio was blaring your favorite tune as you slid across the polished floor in your socks, singing along. Today was your day off and you were making the most of it, even though it was raining cats and dogs. You couldn’t help laughing as you spun around until you were dizzy and fell against your couch, only to push yourself up and resume your crazy antics.

You mimicked an air guitar as the song played, freezing as you heard an amused “Ahem” from the doorway. Cheeking flaring brightly, you whirled around to find Ruby watching you, laughter dancing in her eyes. “Having fun?”

That’s right, you had asked her to come over today, wanting to speak to her about something important. You hadn’t expected her so soon, considering the weather, but you really should have known better.

You groaned and slumped, covering your face, “Well I was.”

“I’m hurt, (Name).” She chuckled as she came up to you. “You can’t have fun when I’m around?”

“I didn’t mean it like that!” You squeaked, removing your hands to stare at her only to groan as you saw her grin. “You’re having a go at me.” You accused her.

Ruby shrugged, “Guilty. So what’d you call me over for?”

Huffing, you stood up, “I wanted to spend some time with you.” You went over to turn the radio down before giving her a sheepish look, “I actually didn’t think you’d come in the pouring rain.”

She folded her arms, a cocky smirk on her face, “As if measly water could bother me. I am an eternal flame, baby! No sky liquid is gonna douse me!”

You couldn’t help, but giggle and blush at the familiar words. “Does that mean I can be your watcher?” You joked, noting with triumph that now she was the one blushing.

“I, uh, well-” She cut herself off and scowled playfully at you when you started giggling, “Okay, now you asked for it!” You squealed as she lunged at you, causing you to bolt.

Maybe you could have that talk some other time.
