So it was recently announced that after 30 years of his most iconic voice work, Charles Martinet has officially retired from voicing Mario and other characters in the franchise (including Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi). It's sad that this beloved man is leaving the franchise since he made such a big impact on it, especially for those like me who grew up with Mario since the 1990s. However, considering that Charles is close to 70 and most likely can't do the high-pitched over-the-top Italian accent the way he used to anymore, I think he deserves a long break. And in honor of his retirement, I decided to make a GIMP picture of the Mario Bros jumping up to thank the man from voicing them all these years and wish him good luck in the future.

Btw, while Charles is no longer doing voice work for the Super Mario games, he will continue to work with Nintendo as a "Mario Ambassador". I think that mean he will help find new voices for his characters in future Mario games. They probably won't choose Chris Pratt, though (he's better off voicing Mario in the Illumination movie).

That all being said, I hope you this. And thank you Charles Martinet for voicing one of the most iconic video game characters of all time for three decades. Good luck to you in future. WA-HOO!!
