My name is Deva. I am a Diploma student studying in Mumbai. I have only my grandma in the village. One day while I was working in my office, my grandmother called me and said there was a festival in the village and I must come.

I have weekends off, so I decided to visit. Finally, the day came. I packed my things, picked up a bus, and travelled to my village. I slept for most of the journey, but something caught my eye when I arrived in my village: a dark forest in the hills.

As I was walking towards my family home, my curiosity increased. When Grandma saw me, she gave me a warm hug. Then she guided me inside. I put my bag into my old room, then took a bath. Grandma called me for dinner. While eating, she told me about the festival and its stories. I asked about the dark forest, and I saw her facial expression change

Grandma: It's a dangerous forest. My mom said there is an old house in that area where a beautiful girl lived long ago. She was a dancer who performed in the festivals in the village, but one day she disappeared.

Me: Then what happened, Grandma?

Grandma: Strange things started to happen in the village. People became sick without any reason, especially men. Villagers found a Tantric. The Tantric said she had died and was taking revenge on men. But that's not the entire truth.

Me: Then what?
Grandma: she had a sister who performed. Dark magic, she takes revenge on her sister's death, Then a powerful tantric locks her in her house, Before she is fully locked, she says her sister would be reborn and release her from her prison.

Me: What a story.

Grandma: This happened a long, long time ago. Still, people are afraid to go there.

After hearing this, my curiosity reached its limit, and I decided I would go there.

The whole night I couldn't sleep; I kept thinking about this story. The next morning, I woke up early and went for my daily jog. When I passed the hills, I decided to go there.

I reached there, and Grandma was right; no human had touched this place for at least a few centuries. As I walked, I saw a house in the centre behind the trees and a garden full of flowers. I picked one flower and smelled it; it was so intense. Suddenly, I heard someone singing in the abandoned house. Suddenly, I felt very tired. Looking around, I saw an old abandoned house in the middle.

I walked up to the house and tapped on the door, but no one answered. I was about to leave when suddenly the door opened. A beautiful woman in her 30s opened the door. She was wearing a beautiful saree, and she had a caring smile, like when siblings met after a long time. The strange thing was, she was standing inside; like she couldn't step outside. She told me her name was Seema.

Seema: "Can I help you, dear?"

Me: "I am a bit tired, mostly from the walk."

Seema: "Oh, don't worry, dear. Come inside, I'll give you something to eat, and you can rest until you feel better."

I walked inside.

Meanwhile, in the village...

Grandma: "Where is Deva why didn't he come back"

She saw a neighbour walking.
Grandma: Ramu, have you seen Deva? He didn't come back from his morning run?

Neighbour: No, Grandma, but don't worry, he will come back; he is a big boy.

Grandma: I'm worried he went to that hill house.

Meanwhile, in the abandoned hill house...

Seema: Here, honey, drink this; you will feel better.

Deva: Oh, thank you, didi.
I don't know why I called her didi; she looked around my age.

Seema: Thanks, Honey.

Deva: Are you living alone in this big house?

Seema: Yes, dear, but not always. I had a sister; she had a cute face like yours and the same happy personality as you.

She said while playfully touching my face.

Deva: What happened to her...?

Seema: She is gone, honey.

Deva: I am sorry, didi.

Seema: Don't be; it's not your fault. I will show you your room; you take a nap.
Then she guided me upstairs where she opened a room. It looked like no one had used it in a while; it looked like a girl's room. Anyway, I needed a nap, so I got the bed ready, climbed in, and quickly fell asleep.

Seema watched Deva sleeping. She slowly patted his hair and then said, "After all these centuries, I finally got you back. I will never lose you again."

In the village, dark clouds were forming in the sky. Deva's grandmother's worry grew, and she gathered a search party.

Grandma: "It's my fault. If I hadn't told him that story, he would still be with me. I only have him as family."

Neighbour: "Don't worry, Grandma; we will do everything to find him."

As they were about to begin the search, suddenly rain started falling with thunder, and it didn't stop.

In the abandoned house on the hill, Deva woke up to the smell of food. He followed the smell and found a table full of delicious dishes. Seema came out of the kitchen.

Seema: "Oh, you're up, honey. Here is your dinner."

Deva looked outside; it was raining.

Deva: "Thank you, sis; it's so delicious.
Deva finished all the food, and Seema watched him and smiled.

Deva: "Oh, the rain hasn't stopped. What should I do?"

Seema: "You can't stay here, honey. Besides, if you're here, I won't feel lonely."

Deva: "But I don't have a change of clothes."

Seema: "Don't worry; there are so many clothes in my sister's room."

Deva: "It's full of sarees and other girls' clothes."

Seema: "Hey, don't worry; besides me, no one will see you."

Deva couldn't disobey Seema; it was as if Seema was his big sister. She guided him to the bedroom, and from the wardrobe, she picked a similar saree to the one she was wearing. Deva showed resistance at first, but he obeyed her. She made him wear the saree. Deva had long hair tied in his head, and Seema untied it and gave him a similar hairstyle to hers. He had no facial hair. She put makeup on his face and then made him wear makeup and Jewelleries. Then she said, "You look very pretty." Suddenly, Deva felt a headache; he saw a vision of two sisters playing together, and he quickly shook his head. He liked the sound the jeweleries made when he walked.

Then she guided him to the kitchen and started teaching him cooking. As time passed, Deva forgot his memories, and he started to believe Seema was his real sister. He physically changed, becoming a complete female with Seema's heritage. If anyone saw them, they looked like sisters. As Deva's memories faded, a new name came to his head: Ritika Devi, short for Devi. Seema also started to call him that. The two girls became very close.

The rain continued for seven days, and during this time, Deva completely vanished, and Devi came to life. As the rain ended, Seema asked her sister to pack her things, and she obeyed without any words. As Devi packed her things, she found boys' jogging clothes. She put them in a vast bucket and dumped them outside. Then travels with her sister to an unknown place.
In the village, some men came forward to look into the hills. When they arrived, they found an empty, old abandoned house with its door open. They searched the entire house but didn't find anyone. Outside, they found Deva's jogging clothes.

When Deva's grandmother learned of this, she became upset. The neighbour came and sat beside her, and Grandma shared everything with him.

Grandma: "It's my fault. If I hadn't invited him here, this wouldn't have happened. Also, it's my family's fault, that curse placed on us."

Neighbour: "Don't blame yourself. Whatever your family did centuries ago is not your fault.
In the real story, Deva's great-great-grandfather is the one who killed Seema's sister. He was also a sorcerer like Seema, and he is the one who locked her in that house. Before that happened, she placed a curse: when her sister is reborn, she will be freed. When that happens, Deva's family lineage will cease to exist. That is exactly what happened here. Deva doesn't have any siblings, his parents died when he was young, and his grandmother is very old. With Deva gone, she is the last member of that family. Deva is also the reincarnation of Seema's sister. Grandmother thought about all this.

On the other side, Devi reunites with her sister, and she also gets her revenge.
