My second attempt at speed-painting! This time, took around 45 mins.I used tree brushes by ~Horhew <<

This is quite good for a speed painting, I really love the trees in the background. =O Also, you did the vanishing point well, more than most peoples(like meh) can. The one thing I have to say is that you might've spent more time blending the grass in; it's totally obvious that's a photoshop brush. xP Then again. I use photoshop brushes too. *konk'd*

Yes I agree, well this was really a quick painting, just to see what I could make of it. I kinda think I messed it up at some points, and some things look untidy. The only real thing I was pleased with is how the river came out. Thanx so much for your constructive critique, I'll keep that in mind for my future works

Only the water flowing from the mountains seems a little too rushed. It doesn`t seem all natural in some way. But other than that I`m amazed!

About the water flowing from the mountains, I agree with you...it looks a bit too scribbly for my liking, and unnatural. Perhaps through more practice I can make it seem a bit more realistic. The only thing in this that I was happy about was the river, I think I got the reflections done ok. I'm not so sure about the colour scheme, do you think it looks a little dull and dark? (probably the mountains lack detail). Anyway, thanx for your comment

No I love the colour scheme. It`s dark if you intended it as a landscape in daylight yes, but to me this is a perfect interpretation of mountains at night. At night everything is dark, grey and blue-ish, so don`t worry. That`s what I liked about the picture.
The thing with the water flowing from the mountains is, I think, that it seems to float above the ground. I think if you painted some bushes or plants in front of it it would seem more like it was flowing through the plants on the ground. If you get what I mean. (gah, sometimes my english is too limited to say what I mean
And maybe a bit darker too. I think the dark vegetation would reflect more into that water than the light that comes from the sky.
btw I like also how you did the sky. And the grass, how it grows alongside the river, and how it`s kind of vague in front of the camera (like it`s a photograph). It gives a sense of depth.

The whole point of speed-painting, is to do it fast! What you said is true, but at the moment I'm just getting the basics right first, and then I will move on to refine my technique.
