I love the richness and ambiguity here.  Joan is in both cold, inviolable armour and tender, feminine dress.  She stands barefoot on idyllic meadows, thinking warlike thoughts..  perhaps this is a dream, or a vision in her intense prayer.  Or maybe this is Joan in heaven, her pain and suffering past, her immortal soul freed from her tortured and broken body, her honour restored in blessing, and wearing her attribute armour, now divine, in contemplation of eternal glory and attentive to the prayer of her devotees.
