24 x 30 acrylic on canvas. For a series I think I'm calling Faces of Austin. If anything looks kinda weird feel free to point it out because I'm so used to looking at it, I need some critique.Enjoy!

A truly awesome piece of work. I have added it to my "Best Photorealism" collection. As far as critique, It is almost perfect! Only suggestion I would make would be a smaller round for doing the whiskers. Just a hair on the thick side. Other than that, GREAT JOB!

this is an herendous piece of art work,
Willie is a very old favorite of mine and a legend in his own right and in the hall of country music fame.
I was google-ing to find a decent foto of willie to paint from and saw this, and honest to god thought it was a foto.
You have captured willie exactly as he is , and I know you probably wanted a better /other critical view to this ,but all I can say is that it,s PERFECT and I just gotta fav it .

Awesome painting!! The only thing is, the ear looks a little flat, but I only noticed that bacause of what you said about pointers. I would definately hang that up in my house and be proud of it!!

Well, to tell you the truth I don't beleive you have improved in this piece, I feel you've lost a bit of the freshness of your strokes.
The hole face has almost the same treatment. Hair feels the same as skin, eyebrows and beard done with same intention as flesh.
I think its procedure that isn't working out here.
Working by areas with an underdrawing sometimes results on this. Cause everything is drawn one tends to solve things the same, its easier to loose spontaniety with this method (Its what happens to most "hiperpainters")
Take a look on this other aproach [link] and see the difference.
I beleive its better suited for your technique.
In [link] there is a clear difference in hair texture and flesh you've achieved wonderfully
In [link] the richness of various treatments gives this piece an icredible optical depth
And your self-portrait just kicks ass!!
